Gellar has apparently beaten Britney Spears and the TV show's star Melissa Joan Hart to the part, which begins filming in late 2006 according to the site.

A source says, "A few names have been mentioned, including Britney Spears, but recently she's lost that teenage innocence tag. Geller might be a bit older but she still looks fantastic".
