    Annapolis: "Jordana Brewster will star opposite James Franco in the Walt Disney Studios drama "Annapolis." Justin Lin is helming the feature about a boy from the wrong side of the tracks whose dream of attending the U.S. Naval Academy becomes a reality. Brewster would play an upper classman who helps Franco's character train in the ring as the two fall for each other, even though it is a violation of academic policy..." (more info).

    Courtney Crumrin: "Regency Enterprises and Fox 2000 Pictures have optioned Ted Naifeh's "Courtney Crumrin" series of comicbooks to develop as a potential fantasy franchise. Series follows a teen who must contend with being a social outcast at a snobby new school while simultaneously moving in with her warlock uncle and learning how to harness magic..." (more info).

    Nine Lives: "Helmer Rodrigo Garcia has his hands full with a big-name cast for his latest effort, the indie drama "Nine Lives". The story is a series of vignettes, offering glimpses into the lives of nine women, played by Kathy Baker, Amy Brenneman, Elpidia Carrillo, Glenn Close, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Holly Hunter, Amanda Seyfriend, Sissy Spacek and Robin Wright Penn. Their stories are rounded out thanks to additional cast members including Stephen Dillane, Dakota Fanning, William Fichtner, Jason Isaacs, Joe Mantegna, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Mary Kay Place, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Miguel Sandoval and Aidan Quinn..."     Nowhere Men: "The Walt Disney Co. knows where Ben Affleck is -- attached to the adventure feature "Nowhere Men." The studio has acquired the pitch for high-six figures for Peter and David Griffiths to pen. The ensemble adventure is described as "Ocean's Eleven" meets "Men in Black." It revolves around a group of people, one of whom will be played by Affleck, who pursue covert missions, aided by their personal extraordinary gifts..." (more info).

    Out to Sea: "Fine Line Features has cast an expensive net to acquire distribution rights to Alejandro Amenabar's dramatic "Out to Sea" (Mar Adentro), starring Javier Bardem. Sources confirmed Friday that the specialty arm has plunked down a sum in the range of $5 million-$6 million for rights in all English-language territories..." (more info).

    Smoke: "Gold Circle Films has picked up supernatural thriller spec "Smoke," with Vertigo Entertainment and Bedlam Media attached to produce. Written by Ronnie Christensen, "Smoke" is the story of a physically abused dancer who flees her home for an apartment complex where she has premonitions of a tragic fire..." (more info).

    Soul Mates: "Columbia Pictures has acquired the pitch "Soul Mates" by Luke Greenfield, who also will direct. Michael De Luca is producing. "Soul Mates" is described as a romantic comedy that charts a relationship between a man and woman who fall in love in high school. The film chronicles their ups and downs over many years, showing how these two are destined to be together, though life and timing keeps them apart..." (more info).

    Star Wars: Episode III: "The upcoming third installment of the "Star Wars" prequels was officially christened Saturday at the 35th annual Comic-Con International when Lucasfilm revealed the film's official moniker: "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith."     The Legend of Zorro: "British actor Rufus Sewell is joining the cast of Columbia Pictures' "Legend of Zorro," the sequel to "Mask of Zorro," in which original cast members Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are reuniting with director Martin Campbell. Sewell portrays Armand, Zorro's rival for the affection of Elena (Zeta-Jones)..." (more info).
