Ghost Story: "Columbia Pictures has bought the pitch "Ghost Story" by scribes Jon Felson and Rusty Gorman. Pic concerns the 11-year-old son of a newly installed president, who discovers a ghost in the White House, but no one believes him. "It's told from the eyes of the child," Felson said. "It's about what it's like to be thrust into a new situation where you lose your privacy and meanwhile your dad has become the most busy person alive."..." (more info).
Hey Ya: "HBO will start production in late summer on its first musical, an original period tuner starring OutKast's Andre 3000 and Big Boi. The musical was written and will mark the feature directing debut of Bryan Barber, who helmed the band's memorable videos for "Hey Ya" and "The Way You Move." Broadway vet Hinton Battle will choreograph the pic, which has a budget in the $15 million range. The pic is a full-blown singing and dancing musical that will inject contemporary music into a period tale..." (more info).

Amsden's nonfiction piece is a minute-by-minute account of a standoff between police officers in Westchester County, N.Y., and a house full of partying teenagers. When the cops arrived to bust the party, the kids refused to unlock the door and spent the next three hours cleaning the house. When the police finally got in, there was no evidence of wrongdoing..." Life at These Speeds: "Cinema Revival toppers David Johnson and Scott William Alvarez have acquired Jeremy Jackson's novel "Life at These Speeds" with TV helmer Jessica Landaw making her feature debut. Zathura: "Oscar winner Tim Robbins is in the final stages of a deal to star in Columbia Pictures' "Zathura" for helmer Jon Favreau. Shooting is scheduled to start this summer. David Koepp penned the most recent version of the script, based on the novel by Chris Van Allsburg, who also wrote the family adventure film "Jumanji." "Zathura" is not being billed as a sequel to that film, however, since no characters from "Jumanji" carry over to "Zathura"..." (more info).
