The Spiderwick Chronicles: "Mark Waters has signed on to direct "The Spiderwick Chronicles" for Nickelodeon Movies and Atmosphere Entertainment MM. A six-part book series by fantasy writer Holly Black and illustrator Tony DiTerlizzi, "Spiderwick" revolves around twin boys and their teenage sister. The Sub-Mariner: "Marvel Entertainment and Universal Pictures are recruiting Chris Columbus to direct comic book adaptation Sub-Mariner (aka "Namor"), due out in 2006. The Third Wish: "Jenna Mattison will star in and produce the indie feature "The Third Wish," a romantic comedy which she also wrote. TV director Shelley Jensen is helming. The project, which starts shooting this week in Los Angeles, is a rags-to-riches story of a bookstore clerk (Mattison) who is given three wishes after finding a first-edition copy of Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations."
