  • Flying Daleks & White Witches
    By Garth FranklinWednesday, May 12th 2004 3:15PM
English small screen mag Total TV Guide reported one interesting rumour this week in regards to the BBC's upcoming reinvention of the classic "Doctor Who" series currently in production for airing next year. According to them, those metal menaces the Daleks "are to acquire some scary new poers - including an ability to fly". Christopher Eccleston plans "to concentrate on a 'melancholy' aspect of the character rather than his 'zany' side favoured by his predecessors". The mag also confirms the recent talk that "Harry Potter" author JK Rowling turned down the opportunity to write an episode due to her commitments to working on the sixth "Harry Potter" book due out mid-2005.

Meanwhile Narnia Fans reports that Tilda Swinton is fixing to cast her spell on "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe." "Narnia" director Andrew Adamson confirmed that Swinton has boarded the production as the evil White Witch. Fellow redhead Nicole Kidman was rumored to be in discussions for the role as recently as last month, but those reports turned out to be false.

They also report that James McAvoy, best remembered as Leto II, the buff young son of Paul Atriedies in Sci-Fi's "Children of Dune" mini-series, is rumoured to have been offered the role of Mr Tumnus, the Narnian creature who tries to help the children after they stumble into his world via an old wardrobe.

Thanks to 'steve c' & 'Paul'
