  • Super, Bat, Spider, Hornet Updates
    By Garth FranklinFriday, March 19th 2004 2:45AM
The superhero genre talk never seems to die no matter how many lycra-covered costume freaks come out of the wood work. Here's an update on four of the biggest ones currently in post, production and development:

    Superman
Production Designer Patrick Tatapolous told Moviehole this week that "My best friend called me two days ago and said Superman is on. It's starting up again. He's the concept illustrator, the designer worked on The Matrix, he's Australian, from Sydney. I can't tell you much more than that, but yeah, it's going to be filming in Australia soon"

    Batman vs. Superman
Wolfgang Peterson is still interested in doing the dead team-up project apparently according to British Hotdog Magazine and Mediasharx. The catch is that he doesn't necessarily want to do it with Warner's current Batman (Christian Bale) or their choice for Superman. His personal favourites are apparently Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana, whom he both just worked on Troy with.

    Spider-Man 2
Columbia Pictures has just announced that a new teaser trailer for "Spider-Man 2" will be presented next week, March 24 specifically, at ShoWest in Las Vegas. The first international trailer will be released in about six weeks from now. Meanwhile Kirsten Dunst spoke to The Calgary Sun about a potential third film in the series: "A minimum of three films was always the plan. I've never made any secret of that. We'll probably shoot Spider-Man 3 during the first three months of 2005...Spider-Man 2 is a much better film and I had even more fun making it, so I can hardly wait to begin work on Spider-Man 3".

    The Green Hornet
In a chat with About.Com, Kevin Smith revealed that he's got to create a villain for the film rather than relying on one of the old staple baddies of the serial - "Well, there’s nothing really from the run of the comics that I read that I was real fond of. It’s just something I’ve got to create, come up with for the purpose of the movie". Meanwhile it seems almost set that Jake Gyllenhaal will be playing the title character.

Thanks to 'JHBlade', 'Artur', 'Fred', 'Antoine', 'Cinema em Cena'.
