  • 'Ring'/'Parents' Sequel Story Possibilities
    By Garth FranklinFriday, Jan. 23, 2004 8:40PM
With word that Dustin Hoffman has been cast as the dad and solid talk that Alison Janney may play the mom of Ben Stiller's character in the "Meet the Parents" sequel, one inside source named 'Package' drops in with details on an abandoned plot for "Meet the Fockers":

"I read an older draft of the script involving a RV roadtrip across america to Ben's parents house in Flordia with a top secret truth serum inside a porcelan swan, CIA agents chasing our leads after a botch drop off - of said swan - and our heroes ending up in Cuba where Ben saves the day and officially wins over Robert. Definitely the highlight of the script is when Ben and Robert are mistaken for being gay - other than that the script was clunky and nothing really popped in it. Just another sequel. I hear the newer draft has a more simple storyline that is somewhat different"

In other sequel story possibilities, 'Underwear' has word on "The Ring" remake franchise and where it might eventually end up:

"Ehren Krueger, is obviously writing the sequel. The script is part prequel/part sequel with the first thirty five pages being a fleshed out backstory. Right now this is being jettisoned as Dreamworks wants to make that section of the script into a completely independent prequel film (which Ehren will at least write the treatment for, if not the whole film) and thus is busy trying to come up with a beginning for the movie and still be able to make its march start date. While he works on that, Dreamworks is looking for a hire end closer to do a couple steps on the second and third acts".

    Thanks to 'Underwear'
