Monkey Peaches reports that while Director Zhang Yimou said he would take a break from martial arts movies right after he finished making "Hero" and "House Of Flying Daggers" back-to-back, it seems he has already worked on a third martial art installment.
Zhang Yimou's long-time working partner, producer Zhang Weiping, told Chinese paper Business Times that they had come up with a rough idea for the movie and Zhang would join the discussion once he came back from Toronto. The intent this time will emphasise storytelling more than visuals. Production will start when the script is ready.
Zhang Weiping has also denied the reports that "Hero" and "House Of Flying Daggers" originally belonged to one story and was spilt in half later because the story was overly long.
Yimou's upcoming project will tackle the sensitive subject of China's Culture Revolution. The last time he did this was a decade ago in "To Live" which has been banned in China.
