"Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" has cast her spell on Paramount Pictures according to RTE Interactive. The mountain-labelled studio has signed a deal with Archie Comics Entertainment for the rights to co-produce a live-action film based on the hit comic book character that also was the subject of a television sitcom.
Paramount will distribute the film, to be produced by Allan Grafman & Chuck Grimes, and executive produced by Michael Silberkleit & Richard Goldwater. Paramount and Archie Comics will split the proceeds of a licensing and merchandising program surrounding the film.
"While the movie will be empowering for girls, it is going to have the action and science-fiction fantasy that appeals to boys," said Grafman. No word if any of the cast from the TV series such as Melissa Joan Hart would be appearing in the feature film.
