In an interview with Comics Continuum, "Smallville" creator producer Alfred Gough talked about some of the new details in store for the fourth season of the hit "Superman" prequel series.
Whilst we already are well aware of the inclusion of Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and a guest starring part by Margot Kidder in Episodes 1 & 6, Gough went into detail about both those surprises and the appearance of two other comic mythology characters.
This year "tonally the show's going to lighten up a little bit and we're going to get back a little more to our roots". The inclusion of Lois, originally planned for just four episodes, has been expanded to a 13 episode story arc by Durance which will be spread out throughout the course of the 22 episode season.
Perry White (Michael McKean) will be coming back (depending upon McKean's schedule), they might be bringing Pete (Sam Jones III) back if they can find the right story, and consideration is underway about seeing Jimmy Olsen on the scene.
Other characters we'll soon see are new incarnations of The Flash and Mr. Mxyzptlk. The former is a small-time teen thief who teaches Clark to lighten up a bit (and the pair do have a race off), the later is not an alien imp but a "Eastern European exchange student who is sort of a jinx".
Off "Smallville" matters, Gough was asked how "Iron Man" is progressing - "Iron Man is circling. They were flirting with Tom Cruise for a while because he's always had an interest in the character. But now he's doing War of the Worlds and MI3. I think they're looking for the right combination to put that movie together. As you know, these things take much longer than any of us like".
Thanks to 'Gustavo'.
