Steve Carr will direct the Kevin James comedy "Mall Cop" for Sony Pictures reports the trades.
The story centers on a mild-mannered security guard (James) thrust into action when highly organized thieves take over his mall.
Steve Pink ("High Fidelity") wrote the most recent draft, building on an earlier version by James and Nick Bakay. Shooting begins early 2008.
