sp; The GuardianThe Guardian reports that a press screening of the new Nicole Kidman movie "Birth", about a woman whom believes a 10-year-old boy is the reincarnation of her dead husband, was greeted with a chorus of boos by journalists covering the Venice Film Festival.
The movie, directed by Jonathan Glazer, has had its share of controversies over two scenes which feature Kidman and 11-year-old actor Cameron Bright sharing a tender kiss and a bathtub respectively. New Line has insisted that neither actor was naked when the tub scene was filmed.
Nevertheless despite the media reaction, "Birth" is the festival's front-runner in the race for the Golden Lion award. The premiere takes place tonight in the Italian city where this year's festival has been plagued by problems of both security and screening operation issues.
