Blade: Trinity "The film was so much better than I thought it would be. I really hated Guillermo del Toro's Blade 2, but Trinity returns to the Blade franchise roots with some new faces and 'old' enemies. David Goyer showed that there were things about the first movie that he loved in his scripts, that he was pissed were removed. He brings back the idea of a human harvest, where humans are frozen and kept alive while their blood is used to eat. He also did a truly wonderful job of getting into each characters persona...." Ladder 49 "Overall, the quality and believability of the action scenes far outweigh the somewhat limited scope of the storytelling. With the exception of Travolta (who, despite his above-the-title billing, isn't really in the film that much), the actors elevate the material more than the writing does, which saves the film from utter ruin..." Resident Evil: Apocalypse "All in all, the entire movie was pretty decent, even though I've picked it apart quite brutally. I'd say a 6 out of 10, which if I'm not mistaken is similar to what I would give the first movie, even though I love it to death. I think it's the cheesy aspects I really love about it. If you were a fan of the first one, you will get a kick out of it, and quite possibly enjoy it for more than just the obvious Milla reasons..." (full review)
"The only thing I really liked about this film was the action. The story, the sub-plots, the characters, made absolutely no sense. There is no motivation for our villains, and it never elaborates as to what drives them to be the villain. This film was horrible, and I do not recommend seeing it, even on a free pass. I have a feeling that fans of the franchise are either going to remain loyal and love it either way, or be solely disappointed..." (full review)
National Lampoon's Gold Diggers "Overall this movie was not a good time. Some of the jokes are chuckle worthy. I'll give them that but the story and character development could use a major, major overhaul. The characters themselves were bland and terrible, not to mention unbelievable and stupid. I hope that the National Lampoon crew goes out to see Without a Paddle, who shares a very similar demographic, and re-learn how to make a comedy before they finish Pledge This..." (full review)
Stage Beauty "Stage Beauty is beautifully shot and marvellously acted with a fascinating story to tell. Director Richard Eyre brings his theatrical background to bear, as he instils a sense of stage into the proceedings. Successfully mixing laugher with tragedy and then dowsing it all with a layer of intense passion, Stage Beauty is a fine example of a period drama that sets new standards in both performance and style..." Criminal "I've nothing against Reilly, Gyllenhaal, and Luna; I mean they all did great jobs. It just seems odd seeing Reilly in a lead role like this. I'm not knocking his performance, but in watching the movie it seems like someone else passed on the role and he got thrown into it. Criminal could have had more of an impact in the events leading to its climax with some one who has a little more weight to him..." (full review)
Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars "This isn't an easy project to review. No matter what I say here, it's bound to piss off somebody who doesn't want to read any spoilers, so I'll do my best not to give away too much. Will die-hard fans be satisfied by the end? Absolutely. Can first-time viewers tune in and pick things up as it goes along? Not a chance. The Peacekeeper Wars is an unabashed love letter from the producers to their loyal viewers, and don't let anybody tell you differently..." (full review)
