sp; The Hollywood ReporterThe Hollywood Reporter indicates Jennifer Tilly and 9-year-old Jodelle Ferland and have joined the cast of Terry Gilliam's upcoming feature "Tideland," which goes before cameras this month.
Janet McTeer and Brendan Fletcher also have become part of the project, based on Mitch Cullin's Southern gothic novel. Adapted for the big screen by Tony Grisoni ("Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"), "Tideland" follows Jeliza-Rose, a young girl who escapes the grim reality of her rural Texas life by retreating into her own disturbed imagination. Jeliza is accompanied on her adventures by four disembodied doll heads that she places on her fingertips.
Gilliam is due to start shooting later this month in Saskatchewan, Canada. He called the book "Beautifully written. Perfectly paced. Sad. Magical. Funny. Excellent woodworking... images kept tumbling off the page and into my eyeline – beautifully, clearly, spookily".
