If you thought actors are busy, just wait til you meet the directors.
The Times of India reports that Mira Nair ("Monsoon Wedding", "Vanity Fair") has been offered the job of directing "Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix", the fifth installment of the series. Mike Newell is currently directing "Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire", due out November 2005 . Of the potential job, Nair says "I'm getting offers to direct Harry Potter: The Order Of The Phoenix. I read it over the weekend. I'm still deciding... I'm not letting all this go to my head. I'm grounded. I practise detachment, it helps me keep my balance...My son Zoharan's excited. I've seen all the Harry Potter movies with him".
USA Today reports that the success of the "Kill Bill" DVDs bodes well for Quentin Tarantino's dream to bring a full-length Kill Bill to theaters. A film that combines the separate movies could happen as soon as early next year. "It's not just like slapping the two together. There are slight changes, and it has an intermission, like a '60s movie" said the big man himself.
Meanwhile Variety reports that Robert Benigni ("Life Is Beautiful") will write, direct and star in "The Tiger and the Snow", about a lovetruck Italian poet stuck in Iraq at the outset of the American invasion. Jean Reno and Benigni's wife Nicoletta Braschi co-star. Shooting will start this week in Rome and will move to Tunisia before ending up in Papigno Studios near Terni in Umbria.
