"The Secret" documentary helmer Drew Heriot will make his feature film directorial debut with the $12-15 million spiritual fantasy/adventure "The Aquarian Gospel" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story, based on Jesus Christ's missing years as a young man in the Bible, revolves around his journeys from Israel to India, Tibet, Persia, Greece and Egypt and the encounters he has with people of various backgrounds along the way.
John F. Sullivan and William Sees Keenan ("Poor Things") penned the script, inspired by books by Levi Dowling and Nicholas Notovitch.
The project will be shot in the US in a stylized high-definition format ala "300". Casting is under way and modern-day spiritual leaders are being sought for cameo roles as prominent historical and religious figures that Jesus encountered.
