Jurassic Park IV Script Review

By Garth Franklin Wednesday August 18th 2004 05:04PM

AICN has just run an exclusive script review of the second draft (penned by Bill Monahan, revised by John Sayles) of the fourth "Jurassic Park" which confirms that while some rumours have been close to right, none of the facts of the script have yet been nailed down. This is the script that's supposed to reinvigorate the franchise, based on an idea that Spielberg is extremely excited about. The review clears up some big facts:

The early part of the script sets up the premise that after months of reported dinosaur attacks in Central America and Mexico, an attack happens on a Little League game in the US. Thus, the UN has created a task force to exterminate the dinosaurs.

The main character is Nick Harris, an unemployed soldier of fortune. Despite all the rumours to the contrary, neither the characters of Alan Grant (Sam Neill) or Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are in it. John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) does have a cameo, the man comes up with the idea of breeding a 'judas strain' of dinosaurs to wipe them out but needs genetic material - the shaving can Nedry lost in the first film.

From then on it gets crazily involved with a Swiss corportation that's been genetically crossbreeding their own types of custom hypersmart, drug-controlled dinosaurs which are being trained by Nick. This all sounds somewhat insane.
