R Family Vacations: "Rosie O'Donnell and HBO are partnering on a documentary chronicling the inaugural cruise of R Family Vacations, a travel company launched by Rosie and Kelli O'Donnell earlier this year. Company specializes in creating family-friendly vacations for the gay community..." (more info). The King: "William Hurt has joined the cast of ContentFilm's "The King," starring Gael Garcia Bernal. He will play a Baptist pastor whose life and new family are thrown into turmoil by the reappearance of his long-lost son (Garcia Bernal). Laura Harring plays his wife, Pell James and Paul Dano are their teenage children. Hurt replaces Sam Shepard, who fell out of the production after it was delayed..." (more info). The Ring 2: "DreamWorks has pushed back the release of "The Ring 2" from November to Thursday, March 24, due to production delays. Contributing to the slowdown were a last-minute director switch last spring and a need to coordinate with actress Naomi Watts' schedule. Jim Tharp, head of DreamWorks distribution, said the new date was chosen for its proximity to school and college spring holidays..." (more info). Bush's Brain: "U.K.-based Tartan Films has acquired U.S. rights to Joseph Mealey and Michael Paradies Shoob's political documentary "Bush's Brain," with plans to release the project as its first-ever title under its new Stateside banner, Tartan USA. Based on James Moore and Wayne Slater's best-selling book "Bush"s Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential," the docu follows the powerful political consultant Rove's influence on the Bush candidacy. Tartan will release the film later this month..." (more info). Market Forces: "Warner Bros. Pictures has succumbed to "Market Forces." The studio has picked up the rights to the Robert Morgan book for Basil Iwanyk's Thunder Road to produce and tapped Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi to adapt it. The book has been described as a sort of dystopian "Wall Street," set in a near future where companies and investment firms manipulate third world countries, raise and depose tyrants, and make their money from the spoils of war. Promotions in these companies are settled by road races to the death..." (more info). Pixar Films: "Following the impressive success both partners had with "Finding Nemo," Pixar Animation Studios and THQ Inc. announced a new agreement that will grant THQ the interactive rights to four of Pixar's upcoming animated feature films. The worldwide deal will begin next year with Pixar's first wholly owned feature film following the end of its relationship with the Walt Disney Company..." (more info). Wild Child: "In a deal worth mid- to high-six figures, Working Title Films has pre-emptively picked up the spec script "Wild Child" from writer Lucy Dahl. The female-driven teen comedy tells the tale of a Malibu bad girl who is sent to a British boarding school. No producers are attached to "Wild Child." Lucy Dahl also has written the romantic comedy script "Accidentally on Purpose," which is being packaged..." (more info). X3: "20th Century Fox has terminated its two-year deal with Bryan Singer and his Bad Hat Harry production company -- in the middle of its first year -- in the wake of the director's signing last month with Warner Bros. Pictures to direct a new "Superman" feature. Fox has had discussions with Singer to direct "X-Men 3," a sequel to his two successful "X-Men" films, but it had never nailed down that deal, which wasn't part of his overall Fox pact..."
