RRRrrrr!!!: "Warner Bros. has acquired the remake rights to Alain Chabat's French comedy "RRRrrrr!!!" and has hired Emmy-winning writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to adapt the script. The caveman comedy about the first murder committed by man and its first investigation was released in France last January..." (more info). The Toy: "Sid Ganis' shingle Out of the Blue Entertainment is producing a remake of "The Toy" for Columbia. TV scribes Bob Burris and Michael Ware are penning the script, and Ganis will produce. While the redo will draw from the 1982 Richard Pryor film (which itself was adapted from 1976 French pic "Le Jouet"), the film will also take elements from the script "Jack and Jay," a comedy Burris and Ware wrote a few years ago for Out of the Blue..." (more info). Triggerfish: "Paramount has decided to reel in "Triggerfish," tapping Emmy-nommed siblings Joe and Anthony Russo to direct the thriller with Robert Evans producing. Plot, set in the post-9/11 world of supposed interagency cooperation, revolves around a high-ranking Secret Service agent who defies the FBI by harassing one of its informants with a professional interdepartmental investigation that quickly grows into a personal hatred that could cost the agent his life..." (more info). Where Is Mama's Boy?: ""American Idol" reject William Hung has returned to his Hong Kong homeland to add movie star to his fast-expanding entertainment resume. Filming has begun on action comedy "Where Is Mama's Boy?," co-starring Hong Kong vet Nancy Sit, who persuaded producers My Way Film Co. to cast Hung after learning of him on a trip to the U.S...." (more info). Gridiron Gang: "Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has signed on to star in "Gridiron Gang." The Columbia Pictures project is based on a true story about a group of teenagers at a juvenile detention center who gain confidence and self-respect when their counselor puts them on a football team. Jeff Maguire is writing the script..." (more info). Herbie: Fully Loaded: "Matt Dillon has signed on to play the heavy in the Walt Disney Co.'s "Herbie: Fully Loaded," opposite Lindsay Lohan and Michael Keaton. Additionally, sources said Breckin Meyer is in negotiations to join the cast of the revamped Disney franchise. Dillon takes the role of Trip, the bad boy of the racing circuit. Meyer would play Lohan's brother; Keaton is playing the duo's dad..." (more info). Mail Order Wife: "First Independent Pictures has acquired domestic rights to writer-helmer Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko's "Mail Order Wife," formerly known as "Mail Order Bride." First Independent has slated a February release for the film. "Wife" centers on Adrian, a lonely guy from Queens, N.Y., who is fed up with dating. After deciding to order an Asian wife through a catalog, Adrian is paid by filmmakers to document the experience. The film stars Eugenia Yuan, Adrian Martinez and Gurland..." (more info). The Fountain: "Rachel Weisz is jumping into "The Fountain." The actress is on board to star opposite Hugh Jackman in the sci-fi pic being directed by Darren Aronofsky. Much of the story is being kept under wraps, but it is known that it follows one man's journey in the present as well as 500 years into the past and future, while dealing with the themes of love, death and immortality..." Farscape (TV): Composer Guy Gross will be finishing in the next couple of weeks scoring the final eps of Farscape i.e. since the score is usually the last thing done on a project, it should be finished soon. Pauly Shore Is Dead: The one-sheet for the comedy is up at FDM.
