"Spider-Man 3" took $17.8 million on Friday, likely to head for a $55-60 million second weekend which is along expected lines. "28 Weeks Later" came in second, fared best of the newcomers and should end up with about $10-11 million for the weekend. "Georgia Rule" will likely come in third with a disappointing $5 million. "Delta Farce" and "The Ex" utterly tanked.
Production on Polanski's "Pompeii" has been postponed until April 2008, as a result both Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson can no longer participate due to scheduling conflicts. A late 2009 release is planned.
