Lindsay Lohan has run the gossip gamut it seems. In the last few years the actress went from breakout new star, through to difficult party girl, tabloid joke, groin flasher, rehab patient and is now trying to become a serious actress.
Yet in recent months she's made more headlines for dropping out of some rather prestigious roles rather than committing to them. Is she still trying to woo the arthouse crowd?
Don't count on it, rather with her next film "I Know Who Killed Me" she seems to have selected a film she hopes will do for her what "Havoc" did for Anne Hathaway - show that she has a range that can be quite dark and adult.
Speaking with Hollywood.com, she says "I don't think there has been a role for an actress like this movie was for me in so long. At first I was like, 'I can't do this, I'm getting my legs cut off. I don't want to look like that in scenes; I want to look decent.' But that was just me being young and stupid."
Ok, so what else about this film drew her to it? "I have my first sex scene in it, which I always said I wouldn't do. I wanted to do this movie so people can see that I'm a f**king actress."
Why do this? "I want to get a nomination. I want to win an Oscar. I want to be known for more than, like, going out."
Will 'Kill' will make that happen or not? Films about sex and death don't exactly ring with the sound of Oscar material I'm afraid. Nevertheless it is a welcome change of direction and saves us from ubiquitous Herbie sequels.
