X2 Trio on Superman

God when will it end lol, today seems to be the watershed moment.

Forget McG, forget Michael Bay, even forget those wacky James Cameron rumours that tried to make the rounds the other day. It seems a helmer has finally been chosen for the "Superman" project and it's a choice which should leave plenty satisfied.

It started the other week at IGN Filmforce who reported a rumour that "X-Men 1 & 2" helmer Bryan Singer had been offered the chance to direct the "Superman" project now that it was fresh out of McG's hands. Singer was reportedly mulling it over.

Today he seems to have made his choice. AICN reports that Singer, along with his two gifted "X2" writers Michael Dougherty & Dan Harris are all on board the project currently rumoured to be called "Superman Returns". There's also word that the J.J. Abrams script has been completely tossed out, with the trio starting from scratch on a whole new script.

Even more eyebrow raising is that it will not be an origin story, and in fact something regarding the Christopher Reeve films and that universe has something to do with this. The title suggests he might have left Earth and now is back. In any case the cybersuit and current set design/constructions are looking like they'll be trashed.

So what does that mean for "Logan's Run" and "X3", there's talk that Singer is still attached to do both directly after "Superman" but it seems that depending upon whichever one he chooses to follow it up with, the other will be shopped out to another director (Ed. Note: already "Constantine" helmer Francis Lawrence's name is begin mentioned in regards to 'Logan').

No word yet on where it'll shoot but the studio is believed to still be set for Australia (and sources in Sydney here all indicate they're waiting and ready for it).

Thanks to 'Gustavo'.
