Alfie: "The remake of "Alfie" is going to be called "Alfie". Paramount's decided against using "What's It All About Alfie," title of the Burt Bacharach song from the 1966 pic, as the new film's title. Par's now settled on using the same title as the original. Par plans an Oct. 22 release..." (more info). Auntie Mame: "Producer Gabriel Grunfeld, who most recently produced "The Stepford Wives", is developing a number of other remakes. He's packaging a contemporary redo of the Rosalind Russell classic "Auntie Mame" and has penned a treatment and is in talks with a writer-director to set up the project at a studio. Brando just wrapped "Big Bug Man," an animated indie feature skedded for release in spring 2006. In the superhero-ish pic, about how celebrity and success can corrupt the good-hearted, Brando voices Mrs. Sour, founder and matriarch of the Mrs. Sour Candy Co.; it's a minor role, but, said producer Stuart Black, one Brando had coveted..." In Black and White: The Life of Sammy Davis Jr.: "Denzel Washington will helm the life story of entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have optioned screen rights to Wil Haygood's book. Haygood will write the first draft of the script based on his sprawling book that traces Davis' career back to age 4, when he began singing and dancing with his father on the vaudeville circuit..." The Honeymooners: "Deep River is expected to operate under a first-look deal at Paramount, where it has been developing a contemporary feature version of "The Honeymooners" for the past two years. Previously, "Christmas" revolved around Santa's reindeer but now is being geared to focus more on Santa's origin..." (more info). All You Can Eat: "Writer Josh Heald and "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" writers-producers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are heading to New Line Cinema with "All You Can Eat," a broad comedy set in the world of eating contests. It's the second project Hurwitz and Schlossberg have set up at New Line as producers, following "Open Bar"..." (more info). Flight Plan: "Peter Sarsgaard is in negotiations to board Touchstone Pictures/Imagine Entertainment's "Flight Plan" opposite Jodie Foster. Robert Schwentke is helming the Brian Grazer-produced project, with lensing scheduled for September. Described as a Hitchcockian thriller, "Flight Plan" follows the in-air plight of a woman whose daughter mysteriously disappears while on board a passenger jet. Running Scared: ""Touch of Evil" star Vera Farmiga and Johnny Messner are running to the Czech Republic for Wayne Kramer's "Running Scared."
