No More Punish-ment

By Garth Franklin Friday June 25th 2004 02:21PM

Moviehole reports that due to pretty disappointing returns on the "Punisher" feature film, a proposed sequel isn't going ahead. Thomas Jane has won raves, so he's going to come out of it all alright and in fact word is he's already in talks to play another comic book-esque character.

It was supposed to be full-speed ahead on chapter two, but the studio realised it's not going to make any money so have erased it from their future plans - "too much money at stake". A sequel might happen one day, says the scooper, but most likely without Jane and probably as a straight to video title.

As for what that other comic vehicle is, at least one source thinks he might be leaning towards playing Cal McDonald in Steve Niles' "Criminal Macabre" adaption. Jane's been pretty tight with Steve Niles lately, even going as far as creating a new comic-book series with him and professing his admiration for the character of Cal McDonald.
