Assorted projects are getting underway and today comes the skinny on several - some are entirely new, others you've been hearing of forever:
<strong>Alatriste</strong>
<a href="http://www.lashorasperdidas.com" target="_blank">Las Horas Perdidas</a> have posted a new scoop about Viggo Mortensen's upcoming "Las Aventuras del Capitán Alatriste". Filming will start on March of 2005 in Úbeda (Jaen, Spain). This is just after Viggo wraps work on filming of "A History of Violence". The director and crew have been searching some historic locations in that city this week and they will be casting 300 people in the next few months. Gael García Bernal ("Y Tu Mamá También") and Elena Anaya ("Van Helsing") are also in its cast, and it will be directed by Agustín Díaz-Yanes ("Without News From God"), based on the novels by Arturo Pérez Reverte.
<strong>Blade 3</strong>
<a href="http://www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/pages/b/blade3a.htm" target="_blank">HNR</a> reports that reshoots are underway with David Goyer doing some filming on West Hastings and Burrard streets in Downtown Vancouver last night - "Not too much was going on last night mainly it was background footage that was being shot but David Goyer was on set directing how he wanting things to go down. I’m told that just before I got on location Wesley’s stunt double was riding a motorcycle in-front of a green screen". Pics from the shoot are <a href="http://www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/pages/b/blade3a.htm" target="_blank">also online</a>.
<strong>Macbeth</strong>
Moviehole reports that Spike himself, former "Buffy", "Angel" star James Marsters will head up a new film version of the classic Shakespeare play "Macbeth". Marsters - a long-time fan of both the play and the theatre in general - penned the script himself. "He sounds really excited about it. He's doing it all himself. Casting the roles...everything. He's already done the play numerous times so it's been a long-time wish to make a film version" says their source.
<strong>Mission: Impossible III</strong>Long-time friend and scooper 'Joe S' has just heard that MI3 has "had its shooting date pushed to August
23rd. There's still no final script. Some key crew members are in Germany prepping the
phantom script while Tom Cruise, Scarlet Johannson, Carrie Anne Moss etc. are
in LA rehearsing stunts and weapon work .
<strong>Shadowboxer</strong>
We already know Cuba Gooding Jr. and Helen Mirren are teaming to star as a mother-stepson gangster team in Lee Daniels' (directorial debut) indie film "Shadowboxer", now 'RustedNova' has this short set report about where roving spies can find it: "It's currently filming in the Roxborough portion of Philadelphia Pa.. I passed the film crews twice on the way to and from work on Eva Ave at Shawmont near. I looked like they were using someone's home for the shoot, I could not however see anyone I recognized walking about. Shooting at that location went through til last Friday. I did learn the movie centers on the unusual romantic relationship between a mother and her stepson who work as contract killers".
