The ambitious biopic "Ripley's Believe It or Not!", which was shelved earlier this year by Paramount due to mounting expense, is back in active development reports Variety.
Steve Oedekerk ("Bruce Almighty", "Ace Venutra: When Nature Calls") has been hired to overhaul the script whilst Jim Carrey as Ripley and Tim Burton as the film's director remain locked in place.
At the time of the shelving, Burton and Carrey were still coming up with ideas for the script which would've meant significant re-writes.
With Oedekerk now involved and the production schedule pushed back, it allows the pair time to work together on the scribe's new take which broadens the film's appeal and raises the visual punch of the film by focusing as much on the wonders Ripley finds as much as the man himself.
The studio now plans a winter 2008 production start in China and a 2009 release date.
