sp;> The Hollywood ReporterAssorted casting news today from the trades have announced a high profile re-teaming, a joining of hot new and classic old talent, and a high profile kids role being filled:
King Kong The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Andy Serkis, the man behind the popular Gollum character from the "Lord of the Rings" films, is reuniting with the trilogy's Peter Jackson to become the man behind the monster in Universal Pictures' "King Kong," the director's retelling of the 1933 classic. Like he did for Gollum, Serkis will provide motion capture reference for the character of Kong, who will eventually be realized as a completely CGI creature. Serkis also has been cast as Lumpy the cook, a member of the crew of the Venture, the tramp steamer that sails to Skull Island. Serkis currently appears on screen in human form as Jennifer Garner's boss in "13 Going on 30".
1972 Olympics Movie Variety reports that Steven Spielberg, who just finished tinkering with "The Terminal," is revving the engines of his next project, the as-yet-untitled DreamWorks and Universal co-production about the 1972 Munich Olympics. Eric Bana ("Troy", "The Hulk") is the first to come aboard to star in the film, which will begin shooting in European locations beginning in the next six weeks. Ben Kingsley had previously agreed to play one of the leads, but his participation now appears unlikely because Spielberg pushed back the start five weeks so he could lock the score and attach a new ending for "Terminal". After producing this, Spielberg will get to work on the 19th century stage diva project "The Rivals".
Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire
CBBC Newsround reports that for months there has been a lot of speculation about who will play the part of Cedric Diggory, well now they can exclusively reveal that 6"1 tall teenager Robert Pattinson ("Vanity Fair", "Kingdom in Twilight") has landed the part.
In 'Goblet', as well as being Harry's love rival for Cho Chang, Hufflepuff hero Cedric also competes against Harry as the other Hogwarts' champion in The Triwizard Tournament.
Thanks to 'JHBlade'.
