Andy Tennant ("Sweet Home Alabama", "Hitch") has signed on to direct Universal Pictures' adaptation of the Jennifer Cox memoir "Around the World in 80 Dates".
Cox's book revolves around a British travel writer's attempt to find her soulmate, sending her profile and specs to contacts around the world. She then travels the globe, going on dates with the top 80 candidates in 16 countries.
Gwyn Lurie has been tapped to write the script. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reese Witherspoon's Type A Films is producing and although she has not committed to star in the project, that could change as the project develops.
