Jeffrey Katzenberg has been visiting Sydney this week for less than a day, showing off much of the Dreamworks Cannes reel to local exhibitors and talking with select local press. Whilst speaking with The Sydney Morning Herald, the Dreamworks head elaborated on the "Shrek 3 & 4" plans he recently brought up and revealed things are moving forward on them far faster than anticipated:
"We didn't have the guts to tell anybody when we started out. We have two more chapters to tell. Not unlike Peter Jackson did with The Lord of the Rings. The difference is they did have the guts to make all three of them back-to-back-to-back" says Katzenberg who confirmed shortly before the Shrek 2 premiere that work on Shrek 3 has been proceeding for nine months and on Shrek 4 for three months, which will continue the series until 2009.
The man also confirmed the tone of the "Shrek" films will affect the sensibility of the studio's upcoming flicks "Shark Tale" and "Wallace and Gromit" - "They are movies made by adults for adults, and we make absolutely certain that they are of equal interest and entertainment for kids. That's sort of the reverse of what I did at Disney - what Walt Disney actually did and I just followed his path".
