"Spider-Man" hunk James Franco, "Titanic" actress Frances Fisher, country singer Tim McGraw, 80's star Jason Patric and "Desperate Housewives" actor Mehcad Brooks have all joined the cast of the mystery thriller "In the Valley of Elah" for director Paul Haggis ("Crash").
"Valley" follows a war veteran (Tommy Lee Jones) in search of his son (Jonathan Tucker), an exemplary soldier who recently returned from Iraq and has gone AWOL.
His investigations, with the help of a reporter (Charlize Theron), uncover a conspiracy to hide a murder.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Franco is playing a sergeant, Fisher a waitress, and McGraw a police chief. Patric plays an Army lieutenant, whilst Brooks is a member of the son's squad. Susan Sarandon has already been cast as Jones' wife.
Shooting is under way in New Mexico. Warner Independent Pictures will distribute reports the trades.
