ABC has announced it is moving "Lost" from Wednesdays at 9pm to 10pm when the show returns February 7th.
The move is in order to avoid Fox's returning reality show "American Idol" whose result show airs in the same 9pm slot reports TV.Com.
Last January "Lost" suffered a 20 percent ratings drop once the singing competition got under way, and the network needs to avoid that again for the rest of this season.
"Lost" viewership for the first six episodes was slightly down this year and whilst it still remains one of the highest-rated shows on television, its timeslot crown is being nipped at by CBS's increasingly popular "Criminal Minds" who actually managed to beat the serial mystery show on one occasion a few weeks ago.
Nevertheless whilst this move raises questions about the show's potential, the show itself has been renewed through a fourth season which ensures the show will continue.
The move also marks the likely end of Taye Diggs drama "Day Break" whilst the fate of the remaining episodes of "The Nine" still remains in question.
