TMZ reports that not only is Don Cheadle confirmed to star in, but he will also be directing a proposed biopic of jazz trumpet legend Miles Davis.

Scribes Chris Wilkinson and Steve Rivele ("Nixon", "Ali", "Copying Beethoven") have penned the script and producer Cary Brokaw will reportedly be financing it independently.

Back in March Sony Pictures was thought to be involved and Antoine Fuqua might be interested in directing it. What took so long for progress to be made were issues with the music rights which have now been settled apparently.

The film, entitled "Miles Davis", will be a biopic on the music star whose short-temper and frequent drug use drew sharp criticism. Despite that, he managed to essentially transform the entire genre of jazz music three times during his life.
