Mark Herman, is set to direct Irish writer John Boyne's best-selling Holocaust-themed novel "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" for Miramax Films.

A young schoolboy in 1942 Berlin finds his family moving to a remote house with no-one around. On one side of the property is a fence stretching as far as the eye can see.

Whilst exploring this new environment, he meets another boy whose life and circumstances are very different to his own. Their meeting results in a friendship that has devastating consequences.

Production Weekly reports that David Heyman ("Harry Potter") will produce the project, whilst Herman adapted the script. An April production start taking in locations around Eastern Europe is being aimed for.
