Jonathan Demme, the director of such films as "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Philadelphia", is directing a new documentary about former U.S. President Jimmy Carter's upcoming book tour says The Hollywood Reporter.
"He Comes in Peace" will have Demme and his crew following Carter across the U.S. on the tour for his new tome, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid". Carter, who has written more than 20 books, will speak about how to achieve peace in the Mideast and his lifelong philosophy of human compassion.
Participant Prods. ("An Inconvenient Truth", "Murderball") is producing the project which began filming last month at Carter's home in Georgia. Demme is seeking what he calls an "experiential" approach, emphasizing spontaneity and veracity, and said he wants to avoid "talking heads".
Demme's become adept at biopic documentaries of late with such efforts as "The Agronomist" & "Neil Young: Heart of Gold".
