MGM said Monday that it has acquired worldwide rights to "A Dog's Breakfast," a dark comedy shot in Vancouver by the cast and crew of MGM's "Stargate Atlantis" and "Stargate SG-1" while on production hiatus reports the trades.

David Hewlett, who plays Dr. McKay on "Atlantis", wrote and directed the story of siblings who have always driven each other crazy. When the sister brings home her new TV star fiance, the brother is sent over the edge and tries to thwart the relationship.

Hewlett and his real-life sister Kate Hewlett play the siblings. Paul McGillion (Dr. Beckett on "Atlantis") plays the fiance. Christopher Judge (Teal'c on "SG-1"), Rachel Luttrell (Teyla on "Atlantis") and "The Swan" host Amanda Byram also star.

Clips from the film were recently uploaded on YouTube and drew about 100,000 views. The film was shot in high-definition on a budget of less than $1 million.
