Paramount Vantage, along with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Prods., have bought the film rights to Frank Portman's debut novel "King Dork"
The book centers on 14-year-old Tom Henderson, a typical high school loser whose life changes when he finds his late father's copy of Salinger classic "The Catcher in the Rye."
The teen suddenly finds himself at the center of several mysteries that he must solve, including his father's death.
Portman, a longtime punk rock musician with Oakland's the Mr. T. Experience, is already at work on his next book.
