Freddie Mercury, the frontman of the legendary English rockband Queen, is getting the biopic treatment.
Guitarist Brian May told Britain's Daily Express newspaper that "There is a film in the pipeline and we're all involved in it. I'm not allowed to say much about it and casting isn't finalised but we've had some incredible offers to play Freddie. Really incredible."
Born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar and raised in India before his eventual move to the UK as a teenager, Mercury is still widely considered as one of the greatest vocalists in popular music with a near four octave range that stretched from baritone to tenor.
His song writing skills are also considered amongst the greats with technically complex songs that fused genres like heavy metal, disco, rock and ballads.
Two of Mercury's songs, "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Are The Champions" have each been claimed as the world's most popular songs in various polls.
Mercury died from complications of AIDS in November 1991, dying less than 24 hours after publically admitting to the world he had contracted the disease.
