Paramount Pictures has signed a four-year long, first-look deal with filmmaker Martin Scorsese reports the trades.
The studio will give Scorsese with $2.5 million a year in overhead for four years, the same deal the studio has made with Brad Pitt's Plan B Productions.
Paramount and Paramount Vantage will now have first crack at all projects Scorsese directs and produces in all media, including features, made-for-DVD films, documentaries, digital content and television.
More surprising, the studio has the option to own half of any film the filmmaker directs elsewhere, as well as to co-distribute.
Scorsese's currently filming a Rolling Stones documentary, which is set for Paramount release next year, and said recently that he is interested in directing lower-budget films.
