Scotland Helmer Earns An Enemy

The Weinstein Co. has acquired North American rights to "My Enemy's Enemy", a documentary from director Kevin Macdonald ("The Last King of Scotland") about Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie reports the trades.

The story centers on the life of Klaus Barbie, the Nazi and "Butcher of Lyons" who lived undisturbed in Bolivia for many years after World War II, but was caught, tried and convicted in 1987 for war crimes.

Before his capture he also was recruited by the U.S. government to work as a counterintelligence officer.

The doco will focus particularly on Barbie's involvement with the CIA. The film marks Macdonald's third documentary after the acclaimed "Touching the Void" and "One Day in September".
