Stuck in the same timeslot with ratings powerhouses "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI", the fourth season premiere of the southern California drama "The O.C." tanked on its return last Thursday.
TV.Com reports that Fox's teen soapie landed just 3.4 million viewers, barely coming fourth in its timeslot and scoring just 0.1 demo rating point ahead of CW's "Supernatural".
Meanwhile Showtime has ordered a second season of the dark and quirky crime drama "Dexter", which stars Michael C. Hall ("Six Feet Under") as a Miami police forensics expert who also happens to be a serial killer.
The new season of twelve hour-long episodes will begin production in the spring and air next summer.
