Moviehole reports that Director Kyle Newman's remake of comedy classic "Revenge of the Nerds" has been "put in hiatus" and at present there is no date as to when the movie will start production again.
Newman was apparently able to shoot the first week, but since then the project has been on hold ever since.
After nearly a fortnight of waiting around, word came down that the crew is headed home and no date on when or if the production will start over has been set.
So what caused the problems? Executive producer McG pushed for the Atlanta location for the shoot despite the studio and director not being happy with it.
Likewise the rookie director's work may have been a factor as well. No official word from anyone as yet though regarding the film.
Update: The trades are now reporting that officials from Emory University in Atlanta recinded their agreement for the production to use their campus after learning of the film's raunchy nature.
A Fox Atomic representative says the studio still aims to release the film in August and that all of the cast and crew remain intact .
