NBC has refuted yesterday's "Studio 60" being cancelled story, saying the show is still profitable and that the network will give it at least a little while longer.
Despite the strong decline in ratings, Media Daily News & TV.Com say that the show brings in affluent viewers that advertisers care about and last week's 7.7 million viewership is enough...for now.
Despite assurances though if Studio 60 continues to slip, it may face cancellation. The pressure is continuing to climb as lead-in show "Heroes" continues to be the biggest show of the night and is only improving in both quality and ratings, landing 14.7 million viewers this past Monday.
Not helping is that last night NBC ran an episode of its other highly acclaimed but ratings barren drama "Friday Night Lights" in Studio 60's time slot.
The show, which was pulled in just 6.3 million viewers last Tuesday night, jumped up to 8.3 million viewers in the "Studio 60" timeslot and came second in the hour (whereas "Studio 60" was regularly hitting third spot).
