Dreamworks Goes West For Blood

DreamWorks has acquired "Blood and Thunder," the an epic-sized story of the 19th century campaign to settle the West and the slaughter of the American Indian tribes that got in the way says Variety

Kit Carson, a trapper and mountain man who married two Indian women but participated in the bloody battles against the tribes, is a key character in the tale.

Hampton Sides, who penned the book, also wrote the WWII drama "Ghost Soldiers" which got made by Miramax as "The Great Raid". No writer or producer is yet set.
