Writer-director Randall Wallace ("We Were Soldiers", "Braveheart") has been hired to pen the adaptation of Ayn Rand's classic "Atlas Shrugged" for Lionsgate reports Variety.
The story follows Dagny Taggart (Angelina Jolie), a no-nonsense railroad executive, and her attempt to keep the company alive despite repeated encroachment by the apparent decline of civilization. It seems the great minds of the world are disappearing because of one particular "destroyer" taking them away.
Wallace intends to finish the adaptation before he starts production next year on his Russian-set Catherine the Great epic "The Mercenary," another collaboration with "Atlas" star Jolie.
