Warner Bros. Pictures and Jerry Weintraub Prods. are planning a biopic of legendary music producer John Hammond reports Empire Online.
In his career, Hammond discovered or sponsored artists including Billie Holliday, Benny Goodman, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Ray Vaughn. The young music scout and producer often used his own funds, and was also one of the first white people to sit on the board of the NAACP.
The film will be based on Dunstan Prial's biography "The Producer: John Hammond and the Soul of American Music" published in June. Weintraub is undecided which direction he will take with the biopic.
