Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones are in talks to headline the next film from "Crash" director Paul Haggis reports the trades, though it's not the one you think.
"The Garden of Elah" is a mystery thriller follows a veteran father (Jones) in search of his son, an exemplary soldier who recently returned from Iraq and has mysteriously gone AWOL. Theron will play a local police detective who helps him investigate.
The Warner Independent Pictures project is based on an acclaimed article by Mark Boal in Playboy, and both Haggis and Boal co-wrote a screenplay which has fictionalized certain elements.
Haggis was originally planning an adaptation of Richard Clarke's 9/11 expose "Against All Enemies" but has ditched it in fabour of 'Elah'. He'll direct the film and is scouting locations in New Mexico and Texas at present.
