Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier ("Things We Lost in the Fire") will direct "The Duchess", a period piece romancer based on Amanda Foreman's novel "Georgiana: Duchess of Devonshire" reports Production Weekly.
The story follows a beautiful woman in an unhappy marriage who falls in love with a young politician.
The script was adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, Anders Thomas Jensen and Bier. Shooting begins in the UK in early 2007.
