The first official (and unofficial) photos are out in USA Today and Just Jared of John Travolta dressed up as Edna Turnblad in the new film adaptation of the musical "Hairspray".
Travolta plays the mother of Tracy (newcomer Nikki Blonsky also pictured) who confronts racism in 1960's Baltimore. Travolta inherits the role from Divine in the original 1988 film and Harvey Fierstein in the Broadway show.
