Harrison Talks Diary Of The Dead

John Harrison, the man behind the two mini-series of Frank Herbert's "Dune" for the Sci-Fi Channel, is working with horror legend George A. Romero on his next zombie flick "Diary of the Dead". In a recent interview with iF Magazine, Harrison spoke a good deal about the project.

Pre-production began this weekend with shooting scheduled for October. Originally planned as a TV project, they managed to land financing as a theatrical feature which is what they're doing. Most importantly, this is NOT a sequel to any of the other "Dead" movies.

The plot? "To some extent it's George revisiting the origins of the Zombie mythology...It's about a group of college students making their senior project, and suddenly they are attacked, the world starts to crumble around them, and as they are trying desperately to get to their homes together, they continue to have these horrific experiences. They continue to document everything that happens to them as they go, and thus, 'Diary of the Dead'".

Rest assured, the script has "got all of his humor and all of his social commentary and obviously some really great scares". Harrison also confirms the Clive Barker "Abarat" project at Disney is dead, and he's now putting together a package of financing to do movies based on his "Books of Blood".
