Writer-director David Ondaatje is remaking "The Lodger", the famous Alfred Hitchcock 1927 silent film reports Production Weekly.
Based on the novel of the same name by Marie Adelaide Lowndes, the story is a fictionalised version of the Jack the Ripper killings.
The setup has mysterious man arrives at the London house of Mr. and Mrs. Bunting looking for a room to rent. The Bunting's blonde daughter, Daisy becomes enamored with him.
At the same time, Joe - Daisy’s detective boyfriend becomes jealous of the lodger and suspects he may be 'The Avenger', a serial killer of blonde women who's case recently landed on his desk.
Production is scheduled to begin early next year in Los Angeles.
